Gina Lucrezi is one of the most decorated student-athletes in the history of DeSales University athletics, winning the school’s only National Championship and starring as a member of both the women’s cross country and women’s track & field teams for four years.

Lucrezi was a 10-time All-American, earning honors in cross country 3 times and in track & field 7 times. In cross country, she placed 49th as a freshman at the NCAA Division III National Championships, becoming the first-ever DeSales runner to compete at the National Championships. As a sophomore she placed 20th to earn All-American honors for the first time, took 29th as a junior to again earn All-American honors, and as a senior placed 7th to take home All-American honors for the third time.

She was the MAC cross country individual champion three times and took fourth place the other year. Lucrezi also earned All-Mid East Region honors four times, finishing among the top four three times, including winning the race as a senior.

In track & field, Lucrezi earned All-American honors 7 times—the first as a freshman in 1,500-meters at the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships, where she took fifth. As a junior she earned All-American honors three times: winning the 1,500-meter individual national championship and placing sixth in both the 1,500 and 5,000-meters at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.

As a senior, Lucrezi placed third in the 1,600-meters at the Indoor National Championships and again earned All-American honors twice at the Outdoor National Championships, placing fourth in both the 1,500-meters and 5,000-meters. Overall she won 14 MAC Individual titles in indoor and outdoor track & field.

Lucrezi’s name is still all over the cross country and track & field record books— she still owns six indoor track & field school-records and six outdoor schoolrecords. In addition, she is the only athlete in school history to be named the DeSales University Female Athlete of the Year four times and was named a CoSida Academic Third-Team All-American as a senior.

Following graduation as a TV/film major, she earned her master’s in sports management from East Stroudsburg University. She moved to Colorado for an internship with the United States Olympic Committee working with USA Field Hockey as their marketing specialist and managing the recovery center as the USOC’s training facility.

In 2010, Lucrezi moved to Massachusetts to work as the marketing manager for the trail shoe company Inov-8, and in 2012, she moved back to Colorado to work as an ad sales manager for Trail Runner magazine. She left Trail Runner in 2013 to focus full-time on trail/mountain professional running and is about to begin working as the business manager for ultra trail/mountain website iRunFar.com.

As a professional runner on the trail/mountain circuit, Lucrezi has excelled. In 2010 she finished first in 11 different races, including winning the USATF National Championship at the USATF 10K Trail Championship in Laurel Springs, N.C. In 2012, she took home first place once and second three more times, and in 2013, she took home three more first place finishes. Lucrezi has run all over the world as a professional trail/mountain runner, including France, Iceland, Spain, and Switzerland, as well as many different cities across the United States.

She lives in Boulder, Colo., and is sponsored by New Balance, PepsiCo, Julbo, Ultimate Direction, and Pro-Tec Athletics on the trail/mountain running circuit.
