Men’s Track Finishes Third at Elizabethtown Quad-Meet

Sophomore Pat Hess finished fourth in the 3,000-meter race at Elizabethtown Quad-Meet
Elizabethtown, PA (April 15, 2008) – The DeSales University men's track and field team finished in third place out of four teams at the Elizabethtown College quad-meet held on Tuesday at Elizabethtown College.
 
        DSU totaled 43 points, just nine points shy of Dickinson College in second place. Among the Bulldogs earning points (top 4 finish) were junior Adam Gori (Sellersville, PA/Lansdale Catholic) in the 100-meter dash taking third place in a time of 11.81 seconds. Freshman Pat Dougherty (Schuylkill Haven, PA/Schuylkill Haven) was fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.88), freshman Pete Moreni (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) was third in the 200-meters (23.43) and senior Frank McClatchy (Exton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) was third in the 400-meters (51.44).
 
        Freshman Paul Ecker (Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen) was first in the 800-meters (1:57.15) and sophomore Eric Yeager (Nazareth, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) was fourth in a time of 2:01.32. In the 1,500-meter run, sophomore Bobby Bacon (Hatfield, PA/North Penn) was third in a time of 4:12.26 and in the 3,000-meter run, sophomore Andrew Ferretti (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson) was third in a time of 9:09.70 and sophomore Pat Hess (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) was fourth in a time of 9:14.33.
 
        Sophomore Justin Del Piano (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick) was second in the 110-meter hurdles (16.95) and Dougherty took third in a time of 17.59 seconds. Moreni took home first place in the 400-meter hurdles (57.86) to round out the top finishers in the track events.
 
        In the field events, sophomore Nick Staats (Montrose, PA/Montrose Area) was third in the pole vault (13-01.50), freshman Doug Searles (Landing, NJ/Roxbury) was second in the shot put (42-02.00 feet) and third in the discus (116-09.00 feet), and Del Piano rounded out the top finishers with a third place finish in the javelin (158-08.00).

          DSU returns to action this weekend when they host the CTC Championships on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.
