Bulldogs Finish Season on Day One at MASCAC Individual Tournament

Senior Jon Kindred ended his career with a first-round loss in the #2 singles flight.
Wilkes-Barre, PA (April 26, 2008) - The DeSales University men's tennis team ended its season at the MASCAC Individual Tournament as no member of the team was able to reach the second day of play.
 
        The Bulldogs were unable to take a set in any singles matches on the day. Junior Jake Hoover (Morrisville, PA/Notre Dame) ended his season with a 6-1, 6-0 loss to Wes McCollum of Wilkes University in the quarterfinals of the 1st singles bracket. Lone senior Jon Kindred (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame) also lost in his first match 6-2, 6-2 to Alex Beattie of Lycoming in the 2nd singles tournament. Sophomore Dan Bullen (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vranney) fell to Chris Cozzillio of Wilkes 6-2, 6-1 in the quarterfinals of the 3rd singles flight.
 
        In the lower half of the singles seeding freshman Joe Sulpizio (Bath, PA/Notre Dame) lost a hard match to Brad Swiegert of Lebanon Valley 6-0, 6-0 in the 4th singles flight. Freshman Anthony Guerriero (Warren, NJ/Watchung Hills) also fell 6-0, 6-0 to Dave Boe of King's College at the 5th singles spot. In the 6th singles flight sophomore Seth Conklin (Valencia, PA/Aquinas Academy) played well and rallied in the second set before falling 6-0, 7-5 to Brian Fenelli of Wilkes.

         Hoover and Bullen teamed up at the 1st doubles position and played well in their first round match despite falling to Kirkoff and Voshell of Elizabethtown College 8-6. The team of Kindred and Sulpizio ended their doubles season with an 8-2 loss to the team of Walker and Metz, also from Elizabethtown in the 2nd doubles flight. In the 3rd doubles flight Guerriero and Charles Marriner (Cape May Court House, NJ/Middle Township) reached the semifinals via a walk-over before they fell to Elizabethtown's team of Dombach and Steiner 8-2.
