Doc Neiman
Sophomore Doc Neiman had two of the five hits on Wednesday vs. The College of New Jersey
BOX SCORE

Newark, NJ (May 14, 2008) – The DeSales University baseball team suffered a 3-0 loss to The College of New Jersey in the opening round of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament to fall into the loser’s bracket of the tournament at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Bulldogs fall to 24-19-1 overall and will now look to stay alive on Thursday afternoon when they meet Keystone College at 1:15 pm in the second round. The winner of the game stays alive and advances to Friday’s schedule, while the loser will see its season come to an end.

DeSales was unable to get anything going offensively all day long playing its first game in the last 10 days. DSU did put a runner on-base in eight of the nine innings but were never able to string together multiple hits or get a base hit with a runner in scoring position as they were shutout for just the second time in 44 games this season.

The Lions (29-10 overall) scratched out three runs spread over three innings including one in the first inning on an RBI ground out. TCNJ scored again in the third inning on another RBI ground out and tallied its final run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly.

Sophomore Doc Neiman (Center Valley, PA/Southern Lehigh) had two of DSU’s five total hits and also stole a base in the loss. Freshman Danny Schmiemann (Sea Cliff, NY/North Shore) took the loss despite pitching well lasting four innings allowing just five hits and striking out one. Sophomore Mark Reilly (Cream Ridge, NJ/Notre Dame) also pitched well tossing 3.1 innings of one-hit scoreless relief for DeSales.
