Center Valley, PA (May 20, 2008) – Senior Scott Matejicka (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) and junior Zac Hess (Harleysville, PA/LaSalle) were each honored on Tuesday by being named to the ABCA-Rawlings Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team as announced by the organization.
Matejicka was named to the All-Region Second-Team as a designated hitter earning Second-Team honors for the second time in his career, while Hess was named to the All-Region Third-Team earning All-Region honors for the first time in his career.
Matejicka finished the season batting .345 with a team-high 15 doubles and 44 RBI's. He hit two home runs and scored 33 runs, while stealing seven bases. Matejicka finished his career ranked third all-time with 189 hits, as the all-time leader with 56 doubles and ranked fifth all-time with 142 RBI's.
Hess finished the year batting .325 with a team-high eight home runs and 37 RBI's. He added 11 doubles, 37 runs scored and walked a team-best 34 times for finish with a team-leading .452 on-base percentage and a team-high .556 slugging percentage.
The Bulldogs finished the season with a 24-20-1 overall record and having won their eighth Freedom Conference championship. DSU advanced to its ninth NCAA Tournament where it was eliminated in the second round of the Mid-Atlantic Regional by Keystone College.
