Women’s CC Starts Season with Third Place Finish at Seagull Opener

Junior Allesandra LaMastro was the second Bulldog across the finish line in 10th place on Saturday.

Salisbury, MD, (September 6, 2008) – The DeSales University women's cross country team started its 2008 season with a third place finish at the Seagull Opener hosted by Salisbury University on Saturday morning.

DSU finished with 61 team points, 27 points behind Mansfield University in second place. The top finisher for the Bulldogs was freshman Catharine Harmon (Charlton, MA/Shepherd Hill) in fourth place overall with a time of 24:02 on the 6K course. Junior Allesandra LaMastro (Flanders, NJ/Pope John XXIII) was the next Bulldog across the finish line in 10^th place in a time of 24:50.

Junior Jeanine Walsh (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) was 14^th in a time of 25:11, junior Beth Malseed (Claymont, DE/Archmere Academy) was 17^th in a time of 25:38, and sophomore Sarah Bannon (Bayonne, NJ/Holy Family Academy) was 19^th in a time of 26:31 to round out DSU's top five runners.

The Bulldogs will return to the course in two weeks when they travel to the NYU Invitational at Van Cortland Park, NY on Saturday, September 20^th.
