St. David's, PA (October 10, 2009) – Sophomore Melissa Millili (Deptford, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) made 14 saves and senior Emily LaDuke (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) scored on an early PK helping the DeSales University women's soccer team salvage what could be a very important 1-1 tie at Eastern University in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs become the first team to tie or defeat Eastern University in a regular season conference game in the last four years. DSU improves to 5-6-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the Freedom, while the Eagles move to 5-5-1, 1-0-1 in the Freedom. Eastern had a decisive 27-3 advantage in shots and a 5-1 edge in corners but each team only scored once as they left deadlocked at one after 110 minutes of soccer.

DSU scored first, just 4:46 into the game when LaDuke made it 2-for-2 on penalty kicks this season, giving the visitor's a 1-0 lead. That advantage stood into the half but for not very long in the second half as Eastern scored 3:39 into the second stanza to tie the game at one. Neither team was able to net a goal thru the rest of the second half and two 10-minute overtimes as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

Millili was outstanding all afternoon as she now has 73 saves on the season and lowered her goals against average down to 1.53 for the season. All three of DSU's shots came off the foot of LaDuke.

DSU returns to action on Wednesday, October 14th when they return to Freedom Conference play with a night game at King's College beginning at 7:00 pm.
