Bannon Leads Bulldogs to 13th Place Finish at Home Invitational

Sophomore Cassie Harmon and junior Sarah Bannon were the first two across for DeSales on Saturday.

Center Valley, PA (October 10, 2009) – Junior Sarah Bannon (Bayonne, NJ/Holy Family Academy) took home 33rd place individually leading the DeSales University women's cross country team to a 13th place finish at its home Invitational held on Saturday morning.

The Bulldogs finished with 307 points, just 14 points out of 12th place which belonged to local rival Moravian College. Bannon was the first across the finish line for DeSales, finishing the 6K course in a time of 25:18.72. Sophomore Cassie Harmon (Charlton, MA/Shepherd Hill) was next to finish in 52nd place in a time of 25:44.59.

Rounding out the top three was the senior trio of Alessandra LaMastro (Flanders, NJ/Pope John XXIII), Jeanine Walsh (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan), and Beth Malseed (Claymont, DE/Archmere Academy). LaMastro was in 73rd place in a time of 26:21.28, Walsh finished in 94th place in a time of 26:55.22, and Malseed was in 112th place in a time of 27:46.63.

DeSales returns to action next Saturday when they travel to Richard Stockton College for the CTC Championships.
