Women's CC Impressive with 3rd Place Finish at CTC Championships

Pomona, NJ (October 17, 2009) – The DeSales University women’s cross country team had an impressive showing on Saturday afternoon taking home third place out of 12 teams at the CTC Championships held at Richard Stockton College in soggy conditions.
The duo of sophomore Cassie Harmon (Charlton, MA/Shepherd Hill) and junior Sarah Bannon (Bayonne, NJ/Holy Family Academy) again led the way as Harmon took home 14th place in a time of 24;50.12 and Bannon was just behind in 16th place in a time of 25:04.66.
Senior Jeanine Walsh (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) had her best race of the season, taking 22nd place in a time of 25:28.64, while fellow senior Alessandra LaMastro (Flanders, NJ/Pope John XXIII) also ran well taking home 26th place in a time of 25:34.39. Freshman Rachel Winters (Mertztown, PA/Kutztown) rounded out the top five with a 42nd place finish in a time of 26:15.10.
The Bulldogs now take two weeks off to prepare for their most important race of the season, the MAC Championships, held at home on the DeSales University campus on Saturday, October 31st.
