Women’s Cross Country Returns to Action at Paul Short Invitational

Senior Jeanine Walsh ran well at the Paul Short Invitational on Friday afternoon.
Bethlehem, PA (October 2, 2009) – The DeSales University women's cross country team returned to action for the first time in 13 days, competing at the Paul Short Invitational held at Lehigh University on Friday afternoon.

The Bulldogs finished in 39th place in a race featuring several Division I and II schools as well as some of the top Division III teams in the region. Leading the Bulldogs were sophomore Cassie Harmon (Charlton, MA/Shepherd Hill) and junior Sarah Bannon (Bayonne, NJ/Holy Family Academy). Harmon was first across the finish line in 179th place in a time of 24:12, while Bannon finished in 192nd place in 24:19.

Rounding out the top five was senior Alessandra LaMastro (Flanders, NJ/Pope John XXIII) in 286th place (25:41), senior Jeanine Walsh (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) in 308th place (26:03), and freshman Rachel Winters (Mertztown, PA/Kutztown) in 317th place (26:26).

The Bulldogs return to action next Saturday, when they host its DSU Invitational on Saturday morning.
