Ferretti Leads Men’s CC to Third Place Finish at MAC Championships

Senior Andrew Ferretti finished fifth overall at the MAC Championships on Saturday afternoon.

Center Valley, PA (October 31, 2009) – Senior Andrew Ferretti (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson) made his final race at DeSales University a memorable one as he took home fifth place overall leading the DeSales University men's cross country team to a third place finish at the MAC Championships on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs finished with 105 points, four points ahead of Widener University who took fourth. Elizabethtown College took home the title with 31 points, while Messiah College was second. Ferretti earned All-MAC First-Team honors for finishing among the top 10, placing fifth in a time of 27:33.81.

Sophomore Brent Clauser (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) earned All-MAC Second-Team honors after taking home 20^th place in a time of 28:41.43. Junior Kevin Gwinn (Center Muriches, NY/Saint Anthony's) was 25^th in a time of 28:49.17, while junior Jack Tarpey (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township) in 28^th place (28:53.07) and freshman Gerard Sclafani (Lincoln Park, NJ/Butler) in 30^th place (29:09.00) rounded out the top five for DeSales.

The Bulldogs will conclude their season in two weeks when they travel to the NCAA Mid-East Regional Championships held on the campus of Lehigh University.
