Women’s CC Finishes Seventh at MAC Championships

Junior Sarah Bannon was the top DSU finisher in 26th place at the MAC Championships

Center Valley, PA (October 31, 2009) – The DeSales University women's cross country team finished in seventh place out of 14 teams at the MAC Championships held on DSU's campus on Saturday morning.

The Bulldogs totaled 177 points, 27 behind King's College in sixth place. Leading the way for DeSales was junior Sarah Bannon (Bayonne, NJ/Holy Family Academy) in 26^th place in a time of 26:06.47. Sophomore Cassie Harmon (Charlton, MA/Shepherd Hill) was just behind Bannon in 29^th place in a time of 26:25.26.

Seniors Jeanine Walsh (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) and Alessandra LaMastro (Flanders, NJ/Pope John XXIII) each ran well in their last race on the DeSales course. Walsh finished 40^th in a time of 26:51.51, while LaMastro came across in 51^st place in a time of 27:28.70. Another senior, Beth Malseed (Claymont, DE/Archmere Academy), rounded out the top five with a 58^th place finish in a time of 28:15.82.

The Bulldogs return to action with one more race in two weeks as they travel cross-town to Lehigh University for the NCAA Mid-East Regional Championships on Saturday, November 14^th.
