Gildner Named to CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Second-Team

Junior Aaron Gildner ranks second on the team with four assists this season.

Center Valley, PA (November 2, 2009) – Junior Aaron Gildner (Slatington, PA/Parkland) of the DeSales University men's soccer team was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN the MagazineI Academic All-District Second-Team as announced by the organization over the weekend.

The ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Team recognizes student-athletes of sophomore status or higher that excel in both the classroom (3.3 GPA or higher) and on the field (starter or significant reserve). All student-athletes recognized on an All-District First-Team are then forwarded to the national ballot where they will be considered for Academic All-American status.

Gildner earns Second-Team honors for the first time in his career. He has started all 17 games for the Bulldogs and ranks fourth on the team in scoring with three goals and four assists for 10 points. Gildner is a double major in both accounting and finance, carrying a 3.98 cumulative GPA into the start of the fall semester.

The Bulldogs concluded the regular season with a 10-7 overall record. DSU missed out on the Freedom Conference playoffs but still has hopes of possibly earning a bid into the ECAC Tournament which will be announced a week from today on Monday, November 9^th.
