Moreni/Weber Perform Well at Last Chance Meet

Junior Meghan Weber was third in three different events and sophomore Pete Moreni was sixth the 400-hurdles on Monday.
Swarthmore, PA (May 11, 2009) – Sophomore Pete Moreni (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) and junior Meghan Weber (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East) each performed well as the DeSales University men's and women's track teams each took part in the Last Chance Meet at Swarthmore College on Monday.

No team scoring was kept and only a few individuals participated for the Bulldogs in a final attempt to qualify for either the ECAC or NCAA Division III National Championships meet. On the men's side Moreni finished in sixth place in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 55.31.

Freshman Hank Miller (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg) also had a nice showing with a third place finishing in the discus with a season-best toss of 143-09.00 feet. Sophomore Ken Devens (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Township) was seventh in the discus (127-01.00) and junior Steve Modrow (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) was eighth (126-05.00). Modrow also had an eighth place finish in the shot put with a toss of 43-08.50 feet.

On the women's side Weber was the only DSU athlete to finish among the top eight in an event as she took home third place in three different events. She was third in the discus with a throw of 119-05.00 feet, third in the hammer throw with a toss of 144-03.00 feet, and third in the shot put with a final chuck of 36-00.00 feet.

DeSales will conclude its season starting on Thursday when they travel to the ECAC Championships at Springfield College in Massachusetts over the weekend.
