Weber/Webb Lead DeSales to Third Place at MAC Championships
Junior Shannon Webb had 23 points, finishing among the top eight in five different events at the MAC Championships.

Elizabethtown, PA (May 2, 2009) – Juniors Shannon Webb (Bensalem, PA/Archbishop Ryan) and Meghan Weber (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East) combined to score 51 of the 119 team points leading the DeSales University women’s track & field team to a third place finish out of nine teams at the MAC Championships hosted by Elizabethtown College on Friday and Saturday.
Weber had 28 points as she finished first in the discus with a toss of 124-07.00 feet and first in the hammer throw with a best toss of 145-11.00 feet. She also took home second place in the shot put with a toss of 37-04.00 feet. Webb was first in the heptathlon with 3,569 points, third in the pole vault (9-06.25 feet), sixth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.33, eighth in the 200-meters with a time of 27.91 seconds, and sixth in the javelin (105-01.00 feet).
Other top finishers were sophomore Sarah Bannon (Bayonne, NJ/Holy Family Academy) in the 10,000-meters, taking third in a time of 40:53.60 and junior Beth Malseed (Claymont, DE/Archmere Academy) in fifth place (42:28.90). Freshman Cassie Harmon (Charlton, MA/Shepherd Hill Regional) finished seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time 13:18.04.
Freshman Ashley Wade (Hackensack, NJ/Paramus Catholic) had a solid day taking sixth in the discus (104-11.00), eighth in the shot put (32-00.00), and fifth in the hammer throw (104-04.00). Sophomore Allison Kurowski (Gouldsboro, PA/North Pocono) was seventh in the triple jump (33-05.25).
In the 400-meter dash four Bulldogs placed among the top eight including junior Lauren Annucci (Aston, PA/Padua Academy) who took second (1:00.63), freshman Mara Franko (Pottsville, PA/Nativity BVM) was third (1:01.55), freshman Nicole Chickey (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) was fifth (1:02.10), and senior Amy Fitzpatrick (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) was seventh (1:02.85.
In the 100-meter dash senior Bridgette McGinnis (Newtown, PA/Pennsbury) was fourth in a time of 12.99, in the 800-meters Kurowski was eighth in a time 2:29.03 and in the 400-meter hurdles freshman Amy DeVivo (Easton, PA/Notre Dame) was third in a time of 1:10.46. In the 200-meter dash, McGinnis took home fourth place (26.64), and in the long jump senior Crissy Meehan (Harleysville, PA/Gwynedd-Mercy) was seventh with a jump of 15-07.75 feet.
DSU returns to action on Monday, May 11th when they travel to the Last Chance meet at Swarthmore College.
