Women’s CC Opens Season with Sixth Place at Lehigh Valley Championships

Junior Sarah Bannon was the second Bulldog across and finished 36th overall at Friday evening.

Bethlehem, PA (September 4, 2009) – The DeSales University women's cross country team opened its 2009 season with a sixth place finish at the Lehigh Valley Championships held at Lehigh University on Friday evening.

DSU was sixth out of seven teams, finishing ahead of Cedar Crest College, among the Lehigh Valley Colleges. Top finisher for the Bulldogs was sophomore Cassie Harmon (Charlton, MA/Shepherd Hill), who took 32^nd place in a time of 25:18.3 on the 6K course.

Junior Sarah Bannon (Bayonne, NJ/Holy Family Academy) was next across in 36^th place (25:49.8) and freshman Rachel Winters (Mertztown, PA/Kutztown) was in 37^th place (25:50.2). Rounding out the top five was senior Alessandra LaMastro (Flanders, NJ/Pope John XXIII) in 43^rd place (26:53.9) and junior Emily Rau (Westmont, NJ/Haddon Township) in 45^th place (27:02.8).

The Bulldogs will return to action in two weeks when they compete at the Dickinson College Invitational on Saturday, September 19^th.
