Allentown, PA (January 29, 2010) – Senior Samantha Ward (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) returned to action as the DeSales University women's track and field team competed at the Muhlenberg College Invitational on Friday evening.
No team scoring was kept as several Bulldogs turned in solid performances at the meet. Ward returned to action for the first time in one year, taking second in the pole vault with a top vault of 3.05 meters.
Sophomore Katie Kelly (Warminster, PA/Archbishop Wood) was third in the long jump (4.59 meters) and fourth in the triple jump (9.45 meters). Freshman Kara Moran (Strausstown, PA/Hamburg) fared well in the shot put with a second place finish and a top toss of 9.89 meters, while sophomore Ashley Wade (Hackensack, NJ/Paramus Catholic) was fourth in the shot put (9.00 meters).
Freshman Cara Maloy (Northport, NY/Northport) was second in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 9.43 seconds, freshman Marrissa Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Neshaminy) was fourth in the 55-meter dash in 7.99 seconds, seniors Jeanine Walsh (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) and Alessandra LaMastro (Flanders, NJ/Pope John XXIII) took home third (2:39.36) and fourth (2:40.97) in the 800-meters to round out the top finishers.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, February 7th when they travel to the DeSchriver Invitational at East Stroudsburg University.
