Annville, PA (January 7, 2010) – Senior Andrew Ferretti (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson) was honored on Thursday afternoon by the MAC Conference office being named the 2009 Men's Cross Country Fall Scholar-Athlete award winner.
The MAC Conference recognizes a senior student-athlete among each sport sponsored by the MAC each season. To be nominated you must be a senior and must have at least a 3.20 GPA or higher. Points are awarded to each nominee based on their cumulative GPA and their athletics excellence, while also factoring in the nominee's involvement within the community.
Ferretti is carrying a 3.82 cumulative grade point average into the spring semester at DeSales as a physician assistant major. He has also been a standout on the cross country team for each of the past four years including this year when he finished fifth overall at the MAC Championships to earn All-MAC First-Team honors for the second time in his career.
In addition, Ferretti earned All-MAC First-Team honors as a sophomore, leading the Bulldogs to its first and only MAC Cross Country Championship, and earned All-MAC Second-Team honors as a junior. He was also named a USTFCCCA Academic All-American in 2007 in cross country.
