Stroudsburg, PA (February 7, 2010) – Junior Paul Ecker (Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen) and freshman Jose Santiago each broke school-records over the weekend competing at the Widener University Invitational on Friday and the DeSchriver Invitational at East Stroudsburg University on Sunday.
On Friday, Santiago was third overall in the weight throw, shattering the school-record by almost five feet with a toss of 56-06.75 feet. Junior Ken Devens (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Township) was sixth with a toss of 51-03.50 feet.
On Sunday it was Ecker's turn as he broke the school-record in the 800-meters with a final time of 1:57.96, good for third place. Santiago and Devens again fared well taking second (55-10.25) and fifth in the weight throw (50-10.25).
Junior Mike Curry (Kennett Square, PA/Salesianum) was third in the 5,000-meters in a time of 15:41.65 and senior Pat Hess (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) was fifth in a time of 15:58.08. Junior Brian Filanowski (Cumbola, PA/Marian Catholic) was second in the one mile run (4:28.34) and sophomore Brent Clauser (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) was fourth in the 1,000-meters (2:41.12) to round out the top six finishers for the meet.
The Bulldogs return to action on Friday and Saturday when they travel to the CTC Indoor Championships at Wesleyan University.
