Men’s Track Continues Outdoor Season at Moravian’s Coach “P” Open

Freshman Neal Fox was second in the 110-meter hurdles on Saturday at Moravian.

Bethlehem, PA (April 10, 2010) – The DeSales University men's track & field team continued its outdoor track & field season on Friday and Saturday competing at the Coach “P” Open hosted around the corner at Moravian College.

Once again the Bulldogs had several athletes finish among the top eight in an event led by DSU's throwers. In the hammer throw freshman Jose Santiago was first (51.26m), sophomore Hank Miller (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg) was sixth (45.02m), and junior Ken Devens (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Township) was seventh (43.41m).

In the shot put, senior Steve Modrow (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) was second (14.35m), freshman Jon Langton (Middlesex, NJ/St. Joseph) was fourth (12.50m), and Devens was seventh (12.27m). In the discus, Modrow was second (42.14m), Miller was third (41.86m), Devens was fifth (38.83m), and Santiago was sixth (36.61m).

Freshman Brandon Esterly (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) was sixth in the triple jump (12.76m), sophomore Andrew MacNiven (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton) was first in the high jump (1.90m) and sophomore Derek Long (Wernersville, PA/Conrad Weiser) was eighth (1.75m).

In the 110-meter hurdles freshman Neal Fox (Adamstown, PA/Lancaster Catholic) was second in a time of 15.83 seconds, junior Pete Moreni (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) was sixth in the 400-meters (51.71) and freshman Ben Badilla (Bensalem, PA/Archbishop Ryan) was eighth in a time of 52.11.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday and Sunday next weekend when they host the CTC Outdoor Championships.
