Center Valley, PA (April 18, 2010) – The DeSales University women's track & field team had a solid team performance on Saturday and Sunday taking home eighth place out of 17 teams at the CTC Outdoor T&F Championships held at DeSales over the weekend.
The Bulldogs totaled 33 points, just 2.50 points behind seventh place Montclair State University. Among the top finishers for DeSales were senior Alessandra LaMastro (Flanders, NJ/Pope John XXIII) in eighth place in the 1,500-meters (5:17.11). Freshman Shelly Lipari (Sussex, NJ/Vernon Township) was seventh in the 10,000-meters (44:59.99) and fellow freshman Cara Maloy (Northport, NY/Northport) was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles, breaking the school-record with her 16.17 time in the preliminary run.
Senior Samantha Ward (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) also had an excellent day taking first place with a school-record vault of 3.50m in the pole vault and junior Amee Siegel (Breinigsville, PA/Kutztown) was fifth with a jump of 2.60m. Sophomore Katie Kelly (Warminster, PA/Archbishop Wood) was fifth in the long jump (4.74m) and seventh in the triple jump (10.01m). Rounding out the top finishers was sophomore Ashley Wade (Hackensack, NJ/Paramus Catholic) in sixth place in the hammer throw (36.73m).
The Bulldogs return to action this week at the Penn Relays during the week and at the Lehigh University Invitational on Saturday.
