Bulldogs Set Three School-Records at Goodman Games at Lehigh

Junior Mike Curry was one of three Bulldogs to break a school-record on Saturday at Lehigh.

Bethlehem, PA (April 24, 2010) – The DeSales University men's track & field team had a terrific afternoon on Saturday at Lehigh University's Goodman Games setting three school-records as they continue to prepare for the MAC Outdoor Championships in two weeks.

Junior Paul Ecker (Lewes, DE.Cape Henlopen) set the school-record in the 800-meters with a fourth place finish and a time of 1:54.69, junior Mike Curry (Kennett Square, PA/Salesianum) broke the school-record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase that had stood since 2004 with a first place finish and a time of 9:33.97, and senior Steve Modrow (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) broke the school-record in the shot put with third place finish and a top toss of 15.27m.

Among the other Bulldogs finishing in the top eight were freshman Eric Altpeter (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) with a second place finish in the 100-meters (11.64) and freshman Pat Jacoby (Allentown, PA/Salisbury) in fourth place (11.78). Altpeter and Jacoby also took home fifth place and seventh place in the 200-meters in times of 23.38 and 23.43.

In the 1,500-meter run senior Pat Hess (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) was second (4:00.86) and junior Pat Filanowski (Cumbola, PA/Nativity BVM) was seventh (4:07.15). Freshman Dan Taylor (Shrewsbury, PA/York Catholic) was eighth in the 110-meter hurdles (17.26), junior Pete Moreni (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) was first in the 400-meter hurdles (55.90), and freshman Ben Badilla (Bensalem, PA/Archbishop Ryan) was seventh (58.07).

In the high jump sophomore Andrew MacNiven (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton) was fifth (1.88m), freshman Brandon Esterly (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) was fifth (6.07m) in the long jump and third in the triple jump (12.64m), and junior Pat Clifford (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame) was eighth in the triple jump (11.21m).

Joining Modrow among the top eight in the shot put were junior Ken Devens (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Township) in seventh place (13.12m) and freshman Jon Langton (Middlesex, NJ/St. Joseph) in eighth place (12.72m). Modrow was also second in the discus (43.29m), sophomore Hank Miller (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg) was third (42.21m), and Devens was eighth (38.30m). In the hammer throw freshman #Jose Santiago# was first with a toss of 52.48m, Devens was third (49.96m), and Miller was sixth (47.54m).

The Bulldogs are scheduled to travel to Lock Haven University on Saturday, May 1st for a final tune-up before the MAC Championships in two weeks.
