Center Valley, PA (May 14, 2010) – Junior Jen Lococo (Easton, PA/Freedom), senior Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic), and sophomore Christine Petrilla (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) were each named to the 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III All-East Region Team as announced by the organization on its web site on Thursday afternoon.
All three players earn All-Region honors for the first time in their careers. Lococo was placed on the Second-Team as a utility player, while Andrews and Petrilla were each at-large selections on the Third-Team. The Bulldogs are currently 25-19 overall and have advanced to the Final Four of the ECAC South Region Tournament this weekend at Bethany College in West Virginia after defeating Cabrini College, 3-0, on Wednesday.
Lococo, who earned All-Freedom Conference Second-Team honors is 10-7 with a 3.36 ERA on the mound this season with 11 complete-games, two shutouts, and one save. Lococo has struck out 64 batters in 112.2 innings pitched. At the plate she is batting .342 with a team-high eight home runs and 38 RBIs to go along with 13 doubles and a team-best .591 slugging percentage.
Andrews, who was named to the All-Freedom Conference First-Team also this week, has had a tremendous year batting a team-high .383 and also leading the team in runs (42), hits (59), second in doubles (15), walks (18), and on-base percentage (.443). She has already broken the single-season record for runs scored and needs just two hits this weekend at Bethany to break the single-season mark in hits. Her 15 doubles are the second most in a season in school history.
Petrilla, who also earned All-Freedom Conference Second-Team honors earlier this week, rounds out the honorees having had a tremendous bounce back year as a sophomore batting .351 with a school-record 18 doubles and 21 RBIs. Petrilla also has four home runs and is third on the team with a .550 slugging percentage. She has also performed well on the mound this season posting a 6-3 record with a 2.27 ERA in 77 innings pitched.
