Crampton Earns UEFA "A" Coaching License

Center Valley, PA (August 30, 2010) - DeSales University head men's soccer George Crampton received his Union of European Football Association “UEFA” A coaching license, which is the second highest certification in the world, this summer.

Crampton becomes just one of a handful of coaches across the United States who hold the credential along with current assistant coach, Greg Ramos, who earned it in 2008.

He enters his 12th season with a 114-95-11 (.543) overall record and as the all-time leader in wins in men's soccer history at DeSales University. He has guided the Bulldogs to three Freedom Conference Championships (2005, 2006, and 2007) as well as three appearances in the NCAA Tournament those same years. In addition, DSU has made six appearances in the Freedom Conference playoffs and four appearances in the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament and Crampton has been named Freedom Conference Coach of the Year three times (2004, 05, and 07).

Crampton's teams enjoyed tremendous success over the three-year span from 2005 thru 2007 as he led the Bulldogs to a combined 38-18-7 record, won three straight Freedom Conference Championships and advanced the program to the NCAA Tournament each of those three years. DSU was ousted from the NCAA Tournament in 2005 by New Jersey City University, in 2006 by defending national champion Messiah College, and in the second overtime in 2007 by Johns Hopkins University. The success over the last three years has etched the name DeSales as a proven power in both the Freedom Conference and Mid-Atlantic Region.

The Bulldogs, who have been selected third in the Freedom Conference pre-season poll, open the 2010 season on Wednesday, September 1st when they host Cabrini College in a non-conference game beginning at 5:00 pm.
