Center Valley, PA, (April 12, 2011) – The DeSales University athletics department in conjunction with the MAC Conference office will take part in the “MAC ATtaCk on Hunger” collecting both food and money at three spring home athletic events to be donated to the local Second Harvest of Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania Food Bank.

In an initiative begun last year by the Athletic Training staff at Widener University, Widener asked all Certified Athletics Trainers (ATC) from the 16 MAC schools to help collect food and money for their local food banks. The schools are asked to hold such day(s) at some point during the spring athletic season.

DeSales will hold collection days on Saturday, April 16th at both the men's lacrosse and softball games and again on Saturday, April 30th at the home baseball game. A donation wish list includes; cereal, peanut butter and jelly, tuna, rice, pasta, salt and sugar, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned meats and stews, soup, diapers, laundry detergent, and personal care items such as toothpaste, soap, shampoo, etc. Monetary donations will also be accepted with all donations then being sent once again to the Second Harvest Food Bank located in Allentown, PA.

Someone will be present at all of the above mentioned dates to collect the goods and donations. More information on the Second Harvest Food Bank can be found at www.shfblv.org.
