Allentown, PA (January 27, 2012) – The DeSales University women's track & field team saw four different athletes take home five first place finishes at the Muhlenberg College Invitational on Friday night in Memorial Hall.
Among the first-place finishers were sophomore
Chelsea Schmidt in the pole vault (2.84m), sophomore
Erinne Schmalzer in the shot put (11.72m), sophomore
Cara Guth in both the one mile run (5:41.50) and 800-meter run (2:36.02), and freshman
Samantha Myles in the 3,000-meters (12:26.73).
Other top performances came from sophomore
Olivia Wade in the shot put (3rd – 11.03m), sophomore
Kam Stocks (4th – 10.04m), and senior
Ashley Wade (6th – 9.88m). Senior
Rachel Winters was second in the one mile run (5:50.22) and freshman
Alyssa Brandt (9.48) and sophomore
Chelsea Saylor (9.68) finished third and fourth in the 55-meter hurdles.
Junior
Renee Kunkle was fourth in the 400-meters (1:06.79) followed by freshman
Michelle Churchman in fifth (1:08.54) and Saylor in sixth (1:11.41). Kunkle was also fourth in the 200-meters (30.36), freshman
Shannon Hellem was fifth (31.14), and Churchman was sixth (31.64) rounding out the top finishers.
The Bulldogs return to action on Friday when they travel to the Widener University multi/field events only invitational and on Saturday at the DeSchriver Invitational at East Stroudsburg University.
