MAC All-Century Field Hockey Team

Center Valley, PA (December 13, 2012) – The Middle Atlantic Conference is celebrating its 100th birthday throughout this year and last week revealed the first of its All-Century teams, releasing the fall sports teams to the public and former Bulldog, Gina Malatesta, was honored the MAC Field Hockey All-Century Team (2003-11).

The All-Century teams were broken into four eras.  The Bulldogs have been in the MAC since the 1997-98 season and the sport of field hockey itself was added as a sport at DeSales at the start of the 2004 season, giving DSU the opportunity to earn a spot on the All-Century team in just one of the four eras.

Malatesta was a part of the first two field hockey teams at DeSales and played her junior and senior years as a Bulldog with the team before graduating in 2006.  She earned All-Freedom Conference honors as a senior in 2005 and continues to rank among the all-time leaders at DeSales, despite playing just two years, with 33 career goals (3rd) and 69 career points (3rd).

Malatesta also continues to own the school-record for goals in a game, four achieved twice, and points in game game, eight also achieved twice.
