Center Valley, PA (October 16, 2013) – FDU-Florham broke open a tie game at two with goals in the 80th and 86th minute en route to a 4-2 win over the DeSales University men's soccer team in Freedom Conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (7-8, 1-2 Freedom) started strong scoring just 29 seconds into the game when freshman Wes Frebel found fellow freshman Isaac Mohr on a quick re-start of a foul by the Devils.  Mohr broke free for a 1v1 with the goalkeeper and scored inside the far post for a 1-0 Bulldog lead.

The Devils tied the game exactly 28 minutes later when Ryan Hurdes scored unassisted on a free kick just outside the box bending a low shot inside the far post around the wall for his 16th goal of the year.

Chaz Armand then gave FDU a 2-1 lead in the 34th minute heading home a rebound on a corner kick and that score stood into the half as the Devils out-shot the Bulldogs 11-3 in the first half.

DSU found the tying goal 14:50 into the second-half when Frebel beat a charging goalkeeper to a long pass over the top and touched it into the goal for his seventh tally of the season.  Senior Matt Metzler earned the assist on the play.

The game remained tied into the 80th minute when Igor Petrovic sent a perfect pass thru the Bulldog defense to a streaking Hurdes who collected the ball, stopped as a defender ran by and fired a shot over the top of junior Colin Sulpizio and into the goal.

The Devils added the insurance marker at 85:42 after DSU had pushed up looking for the tying goal when Armand scored on a shot off a rebound of a shot that caromed off the post and back into play by Petrovic.

FDU finished the game with a 22-9 edge in shot and both teams had four corner kicks.  Sulpizio made two saves in the loss.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they host Wilkes University in a very important Freedom Conference match-up beginning at 12:30 pm.
