Annville, PA (March 11, 2013) – The Middle Atlantic Conference is celebrating its 100th birthday throughout this year and last week revealed the second of its All-Century teams, releasing the winter sports teams to the public and former Bulldogs, Darnell Braswell, Phil Stricker, and Jim Zinn, were all honored on the MAC Men's Basketball All-Century Team (2004-12).
Teams were voted on by fans during the fall semester. Those votes were combined with votes from sports information directors at participating schools within the conference. The teams are broken into seven eras spanning the 100-year history of the MAC including the years from 1912-1966, 1967-1974, 1975-1982, 1983-1987, 1988-1992, 1994-2003, and 2004-2012. The Bulldogs joined the MAC for the 1997-98 season.
Braswell (2006-10) was a two-time First-Team All-American at DeSales finishing his career as the all-time leading scorer with 1,745 career points. Braswell helped lead the Bulldogs to two Freedom Conference Championships (2009 and 2010), to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament in 2009, and to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2010. He was named the Freedom Conference Player of the Year as both a junior and senior and All-Freedom Conference three times in his career.
Stricker (2004-08) currently stands #5 on DSU's all-time scoring list with 1,436 career points. He was named a Third-Team All-American as a senior by the NABC and was the Freedom Conference Player of the Year in 2008. Stricker earned All-Freedom Conference First-Team honors three times during his career.
Zinn (2000-04) rounds out the honorees having finished his career with 1,079 career points which currently ranks 18th all-time. Zinn earned All-Freedom Conference First-Team honors twice and was named the Player of the Year as a senior in 2004. He also earned Honorable-Mention All-American honors by DIII News in 2004 and still ranks #1 all-time at DeSales in three-point shooting percentage.
