Annville, PA (March 13, 2013) – Five DeSales University women's basketball players were named to the MAC All-Century Team as announced on Tuesday afternoon and as voted on by the fans as part of the Middle Atlantic Conferences yearlong celebration of its 100th birthday including Teri Antolick (1999-03), Kate Corcoran (1996-00), Alyssa Antolick (2001-05), Kim Rarick (2005-09), and LeighAnn Burke (2005-09).
Teams were voted on by fans during the winter semester. Those votes were combined with votes from sports information directors at participating schools within the conference. The teams are broken into four eras spanning the 100-year history of the MAC including the years from 1912-88, 1989-93, 1994-03, and 2004-12. The Bulldogs joined the MAC for the 1997-98 season.
These five players have been a major part of the enormous success DeSales has enjoyed during its time in the MAC and as part of the Freedom Conference. The Bulldogs since joining the conference in 1997-98 have won six conference championships (1998, 2000, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011) and have never missed the post-season earning a playoff berth in all 16 of their seasons competing in the Freedom Conference. DSU has also advanced to the NCAA Tournament seven times since joining the MAC 16 years ago, advancing as far as the “Sweet 16” in 2008.
All five players earned All-American honors during their careers with A. Antolick and Burke each earning First-Team All-American honors and Burke being named a Jostens Trophy Finalist in each of her last two seasons.
Corcoran is the elder statesman of the group having graduated in 2000 after earning All-Freedom Conference First-Team honors twice as both a junior and a senior. She currently ranks 16th all-time in scoring with 1,097 career points and is also ranked third all-time in three-pointers made (143) and fifth in career steals (243).
T. Antolick earned All-Freedom Conference First-Team honors once and Second-Team honors once. She currently ranks 10th all-time in scoring with 1,268 career points and second all-time in career field goal percentage (.535). In addition she is ninth all-time in rebounding (720), seventh all-time in blocked shots (104), and fourth all-time with 26 career double-doubles.
A. Antolick was named to the All-Freedom Conference First-Team three times and was also named the Freedom Conference Rookie of the Year in 2003 and the Player of the Year in 2004. She currently ranks fourth all-time in scoring with 1,531 career points and is also ranked fourth all-time with 140 made three's and third all-time with 126 career blocked shots. A. Antolick is also second all-time (behind Rarick) in career free throw percentage, shooting 82.2 percent from the charity stripe.
Rarick was a two-time honoree on the All-Freedom Conference First-Team and together with Burke finished her career with back-to-back Freedom Conference Championships starting DSU's string of four straight titles that included an appearance in the NCAA “Sweet 16” their junior season.
Rarick currently ranks seventh all-time in scoring with 1,382 career points and is DSU's all-time leader in both free throw shooting percentage (86.3) and three-point shooting percentage (44.4). She led the nation in free throw shooting, converting 93.0 percent (146-for-157), as a junior in 2008. Rarick is also ranked among the top ten all-time in assists (3rd – 405) and steals (7th – 233), as well as ranking seventh all-time with 96 career made treys.
Burke is the Bulldogs only two-time Freedom Conference Player of the Year having earned the honor in both 2008 and 2009. She was also the Freedom Conference Rookie of the Year in 2006 and earned All-Freedom Conference honors all four years of her career including Second-Team once (as a freshman) and First-Team the final three years of her career.
She is ranked second all-time in scoring with 1,908 career points and owns the single-game scoring record of 46 points in a performance to remember in Billera Hall on senior day, February 17, 2009 when she made a school-record 10 three's, grabbed nine rebounds, and also had five assists in a convincing win over Delaware Valley College.
Burke is ranked among the top 10 all-time in nearly every statistical category at DeSales and is the all-time leader in three-pointers made (252), ranks second all-time with 277 career steals, and is sixth all-time with 342 career assists.
