Bulldogs Blanked at Rutgers-Newark, 6-0

Newark, NJ (September 8, 2013) – The DeSales University men's soccer team suffered its second straight shutout loss falling to host Rutgers-Newark, 6-0, in the second day of the Scarlet Raiders Soccer Classic on Sunday evening.

The loss drops the Bulldogs to 0-4 on the year and is the worst loss for a DeSales team since the 2003 season ended with a 9-2 loss in the ECAC South Region Tournament.  DSU started the 2007 season 0-7 but rallied to finish the year 10-10-2 and won the Freedom Conference Championship that year narrowly losing to Johns Hopkins University in the second overtime, 1-0, in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Bulldogs will look to get their first win on Wednesday, September 11th when they travel to Cabrini College for a non-conference game beginning at 6:30 pm.  DSU was out-shot 25-3 on Sunday.  Junior Harry Holloway-Pratt and senior Matt Metzler were each named to the All-Tournament Team over the weekend.
