Four Bulldogs Earned Conference Player of the Week honors

Annville, PA (October 30, 2017) - Four DeSales University student-athletes including senior Veronica Wheeler (Yardley, PA) sophomores Kylie Honnick-Payne (Johnson City, NY) and Madison Brader (Coopersburg, PA), and senior Angelica Bertola (East Stroudsburg, PA) were honored once again on Monday being named the MAC Freedom conference player of the Week in their respective sports.

Women's Cross Country
Wheeler earned her third conference player of the week honor winning the MAC Championship individual title for the second straight year with a 6K time of 21:54.2.  Her time was 52 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

Field Hockey
Honnick-Payne and Brader are named the MAC Freedom Field Hockey Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.  Honnick-Payne earns the honor for the third time this season after leading DSU to a 2-0 record scoring three goals and two assists helping the Bulldogs clinch the fourth and final MAC Freedom playoff spot.  She had both goals in the playoff clinching win over King's College and added another goal and assist in the 4-0 win over Immaculata.  Brader was the leader of a defense that allowed just one goal and 16 total shots on the week including the team's fifth shutout of the season in the win over Immaculata.

Women's Socer
Bertola takes home Offensive Player of the Week honors for the third time this season.  She scored four more goals in leading DSU to a 2-0 record and clinching the final MAC Freedom playoff spot.  She had two goals in the win over Elizabethtown College mid-week and added two more goals in the 3-1 win over Eastern on Saturday to clinch the final playoff spot.  Bertola netted the game-winner in each game and now has 25 goals and six assists for 56 points on the season.
