Center Valley, PA (April 30, 2008) – Senior Dan Thomer (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) and junior Matthew Brancaccio (Greenvale, NY/North Shore) were each honored on Wednesday afternoon being named to the All-MAC Second-Team as voted on by the MAC coaches and as announced by the MAC conference office.
Both players earn All-Conference honors for the first time in their careers as they helped the Bulldogs tie the school-record for wins in a season with seven, leading DSU to a 7-9 overall record and a 2-5 mark in the MAC Conference.
Brancaccio made the team as a second-team attackman. He led the Bulldogs in scoring with 19 goals and 33 assists for 52 points. His 33 assists break the single-season record, previously held by Brian Kuttler at 31 assists in a season. He will enter his senior season ranked second all-time with 81 career assists and ranked fifth all-time with 136 career points. Brancaccio had one game-winning goal, three man-up goals and one man-down goal to go along with 35 ground balls on the season.
Thomer made the team as a second-team midfielder. He led the Bulldogs in goals scored with 26 and was second in points to Brancaccio with 31. Thomer finished his career with 94 career goals, which ranks fifth all-time and 114 career points, which ranks sixth all-time. He totaled three man-up goals and picked up 26 ground balls during the season.
