Brancaccio/Walker Named to All-MAC Second-Team

Junior Kevin Walker and senior Matthew Brancaccio each led the Bulldogs to their first-ever MAC Playoff berth this season.
Center Valley, PA (May 6, 2009) – Senior Matthew Brancaccio (Greenvale, NY/North Shore) and junior Kevin Walker (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum) were each honored on Wednesday, being named to the All-MAC Second-Team as announced by the conference office and as voted on by the MAC coaches.

Brancaccio earns All-Conference honors for the second time in his career after earning Second-Team honors as a junior. Walker makes his first appearance on the All-Conference team after transferring to DeSales this season. The Bulldogs finished the year 6-10 overall and 5-5 in the MAC. DeSales was fifth in the conference standings, earning its first-ever MAC playoff berth where they fell to the #4 seed, Elizabethtown College, 9-2 in the quarterfinals of the MAC playoffs.

Brancaccio led the team in scoring with 25 goals and 26 assists for 51 points. He added four game-winning goals and finishes his career with 80 goals, a school-record 107 assists, and 187 career points. Brancaccio ranks sixth all-time in goals scored, first in assists, and second all-time in career points.

Walker had a tremendous season as a face-off specialist in the midfield. He set a school-record winning 63.8 percent of his face-off attempts (173-for-271) and led the team with 112 ground balls, which ranks as the second most in a season at DeSales. Walker also totaled 13 goals scored and five assists on the offensive end.
