Chester, PA, (October 13, 2004) – The DeSales University men’s soccer team recorded its fourth shutout of the season defeating Widener University, 2-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon in Chester, PA.
Senior Kevin Moore (Hockessin, DE/Salesianum) and Randy Sturm (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May) each scored a goal and assisted on the other’s goal to lead the offensive attack. Moore’s was the game-winner and his seventh of the season off Sturm’s assist at the 18:54 mark of the first half.
Sturm added the insurance goal, off Moore’s assist, at the 56:16 mark of the second half for his sixth marker of the season. Freshman Dennis Kelly (York, PA/York Catholic) making his first collegiate start recorded his first career shutout by making three saves in the win.
DSU returns to action on Saturday as they travel to Wilkes University for an important Freedom Conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
