Center Valley, PA, (October 2, 2004) – The DeSales University women’s soccer team was defeated by the University of Scranton, 1-0, in Freedom Conference action on a cloudy Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (3-7-1, 0-3 Freedom) showed tremendous improvement from one year ago after the Royals (5-5, 3-0 Freedom) had beaten them 10-0 in 2003. UofS out-shot DeSales 25-1 in the game.
The lone goal came at the 57:11 mark as senior Sara Suchoski took a pass, beat one DSU defender and then shot is past the DSU keeper into the upper left corner for her eighth goal of the season and the game-winner. She entered the game as the Lady Royals all-time leading scorer.
Sophomore Kelly Hinkle (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) made 10 saves in between the pipes to keep DeSales close throughout the game.
DSU will try to snap its three-game losing skid on Thursday as they travel to FDU-Florham for another Freedom Conference battle beginning at 3:00 pm.
