Center Valley, PA, (October 21, 2004) – Sophomore Liz Wal (Philadelphia, PA/Little Flower) scored her first goal of the season lifting the DeSales University women’s soccer team past Widener University in a non-conference match this afternoon.
Wal was making her first start of the season and capitalized with the lone goal of the game. It came off an assist from junior Rachel Emmons (Doylestown, PA/Archbishop Wood) at the 15:54 mark of the first half as Emmons sent a centering pass towards the goalmouth over the goalkeeper’s head and Wal was there to knock it into the wide open net.
Widener dominated most of the game but was unable to find the back of the net as sophomore Kelly Hinkle (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) was fantastic in goal making 14 saves in between the pipes to record third shutout of the season. The Pioneers out-shot DeSales 28-7 in the game.
DeSales returns to action on Saturday as they host Lancaster Bible College in a non-conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
