Gwynedd-Valley, PA, (October 25, 2004) – The DeSales University men’s soccer team received four goals from three players who all recorded their first markers of the season as the Bulldogs blanked Gwynedd-Mercy College, 4-0, in non-conference action on Monday afternoon.
Senior James Hasher (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge), junior Westin Wolfenden (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) and freshman Daniel Jones (Ronks, PA/Pequea Valley) all scored their first goals of the year for the Bulldogs in the 4-0 victory. A pair of freshmen Dennis Kelly (York, PA/York Catholic) and Tigh Savercool (Millerstown, PA/Greenwood) combined to make just one save in recording the shutout.
Hasher started the scoring as he tallied the eventual game-winner just 9:41 into the game off an assist from junior Phil Yetter (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley). W. Wolfenden scored the second goal just four minutes later off an assist from Rennie and Jones scored twice. Jones’ first came at the 25:00 mark and was unassisted and his second tally came at the 77:49 mark of the second half on an assist from senior Joe Rinchiuso (Norwell, MA/Norwell).
DSU out-shot Gwynedd-Mercy 27-6 and held a 9-0 advantage on corner kicks. The Bulldogs win their 10th game of the season marking the fourth straight season Coach Crampton and DeSales has won 10+ games.
DSU returns to action on Wednesday, October 27th as they travel to Delaware Valley College for a Freedom Conference game beginning at 3:30 pm.
