Wilkes-Barre, PA, (October 30, 2004) – The DeSales University women’s soccer team ended its 2004 season with a 5-0 win over King’s College in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
Junior Rachel Emmons (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) and senior Meaghan Laurich (Warminster, PA/Archbishop Wood) led the attack as they combined to score four goals and one assist on the day. Laurich started the scoring with an unassisted tally at the 27:22 mark of the first half and Emmons scored the next three goals to record a hat trick on the day.
Emmons first tally came at the 55:38 mark of the second half on a corner kick off an assist from junior Kaitlyn Celeste (Basking Ridge, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan). Her second came just 2:40 later and was assisted by freshman Kelly DiFrancesco (Blairstown, NJ/Pope John XXIII Regional) and her third came at the 66:45 mark on an assist from Laurich. Freshman Nicole Cressman (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) scored the final marker, the first of her career, at the 74:35 mark off an assist from Celeste.
Sophomore Kelly Hinkle (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) made seven saves in between the pipes for DeSales in recording her fifth shutout of the season.
DeSales season ends with the Bulldogs posting an 8-10-2 overall record and a 1-5-1 mark in the Freedom Conference.
