Center Valley, PA, (September 1, 2004) – Senior Kevin Moore (Hockessin, DE/Salesianum) scored three goals leading the DeSales University men’s soccer team to a 5-0 win over Keystone College in a non-conference game on Wednesday afternoon.
Moore scored the game-winner 4:25 into the game as he beat the Giant goalkeeper to a ball in the air and tapped it past the Keystone defense and into the net. Fellow senior John Rennie (Cape May Court House, NJ/Middle Township) made it 2-0 just six minutes later as he took a pass from sophomore Randy Sturm (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May) and knocked the ball in from five yards out. Junior Bryce Wolfenden (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) also earned an assist on the play.
Moore added his second goal at the 16:40 mark when headed in a pass from Wolfenden at the center of the box. Sophomore Phil Yetter (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) earned a helper on the play. Sturm added his first goal of the season to start the scoring in the second half as leapt high in the air to head in a corner kick pass from freshman Daniel Jones (Ronks, PA/Pequea Valley), earning Jones his first career assist.
Moore put the exclamation point on the win with his third goal of the game at the 78:07 mark as he executed a give-and-go with sophomore teammate Matt Ottinger (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland) to give DSU the 5-0 final edge.
DSU returns to action on Saturday as they host Cabrini College in another non-conference game beginning at 3:00 pm.
