Center Valley, PA, (September 1, 2004) – The DeSales University volleyball team suffered a season-opening 3-0 (30-18, 31-29, 30-25) loss to Moravian College on Wednesday evening in non-league action at Billera Hall.

 

The Greyhounds won for the ninth consecutive time in the series between the two teams.  Leading the attack for the Bulldogs was junior Kimberley Werner (Wescosville, PA/Emmaus) with 11 kills and eight digs.  Sophomore Janna Sheckler (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) added seven kills and one block, freshman Gia Zimmerman (Blandon, PA/Reading Central Catholic) dished out 31 assists and added 12 digs.

 

Junior Colleen Arthur (Ridley Park, PA/Cardinal O’Hara) also had 12 digs and senior Michelle Piel (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville Area), freshman Kelly McGlone (Springfield, PA/Merion Mercy Academy) and freshman Molly Motley (Hatfield, PA/Lansdale Catholic) each registered six kills in the loss.

 

DeSales returns to action this weekend as they travel to Moravian College for the Greyhound Premiere Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
