Center Valley, PA, (September 13, 2004) – The DeSales University women’s tennis team has extended its season opening winning streak to four matches with a 9-0 victory over Cedar Crest College in non-conference action on Monday afternoon.
The win marks the second straight match that the Bulldogs have won all nine matches played. Junior Laura LeVan (Orefield, PA/Parkland) and freshman Liz Guidon (Northampton, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) led the way as they each won at No. 1 and 2 singles and teamed to win at No. 1 doubles, 8-2.
Freshmen Courtney McClurkin (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford) and Mary Kate McElvaney (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert) also continued their winning ways as they each improved to 4-0 in singles play with wins at No. 3 and 4 singles. They also won their third straight match at No. 2 doubles, 8-1.
At No. 5 singles, junior Kate Ottinger (N. Catasauqua, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) won her second straight match, 6-1, 6-2 and sophomore Colleen Solomon (Catasauqua, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) won her fourth straight, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles. Ottinger and Solomon teamed to win, 8-2, at No. 3 doubles.
DeSales returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to Freedom Conference powerhouse, Drew University, for a Freedom Conference match beginning at 4:30 pm.
