Center Valley, PA, (September 13, 2004) – Junior Rachel Emmons (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) recorded her second two goal game of the season in leading the DeSales University women’s soccer team past Neumann College, 2-0, in a non-conference game on Monday afternoon.
Emmons tallied the game-winner at the 74:44 mark of the second half as she took a touch pass from sophomore Jessica Tate (Warrington, PA/Mount St. Joseph Academy), dribbled once and shot it past a diving Knight goalkeeper. She added the insurance goal just eight minutes later as senior Meaghan Laurich (Warminster, PA/Archbishop Wood) drew a penalty in the box and Emmons scored on the penalty kick.
Sophomore Kelly Hinkle (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) recorded five saves to record her first career shutout in a DeSales uniform. The Bulldogs out-shot Neumann 15-10, while the Knights held a 5-0 advantage on corner kicks.
DeSales returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to Kean University for another non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
