Madison, NJ, (September 23, 2004) – Senior Joe Rinchiuso (Norwell, MA/Norwell) scored two goals including the game-winner to lead the DeSales University men’s soccer team past FDU-Florham, 3-2, in Freedom Conference action on Thursday afternoon.
Rinchiuso entered the game today with two career goals and walked off the field having doubled his career total. He scored the tying goal at the 50:06 mark of the second half on an assist from sophomore Charlie Mertz (Allentown, PA/Parkland) and registered the unassisted game-winner just seven minutes later.
The Devils had leads of 1-0 and 2-1 in the first half and led 2-1 at the half. The Bulldogs also had senior John Rennie (Cape May Court House, NJ/Middle Township) score his fifth goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Phil Yetter (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) to tie the game at one.
Freshman Tigh Savercool (Millerstown, PA/Greenwood) made three saves for DeSales who improves to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the Freedom Conference.
DeSales returns home on Saturday as they host Baptist Bible College in a non-conference game beginning at 2:00 pm.
