Center Valley, PA, (September 25, 2004) – The DeSales University women’s soccer team went into double overtime for the second consecutive game and came away with a 3-3 tie with Baptist Bible College in non-conference action on Saturday.
Senior Meaghan Laurich (Warminster, PA/Archbishop Wood) scored her fourth goal of the season at the 18:48 mark to give the Bulldogs (3-4-1 overall) a 1-0 lead. The Defenders answered with a goal at the 24:24 mark by Christel Gould.
DSU took its second one goal lead just seven minutes later as sophomore Rachel Roderer (Stewartsville, NJ/Timothy Christian) scored off an assist from junior Rachel Emmons (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West). Again BBC tied the game as Heather Scouten scored off an assist from Beth Snyder just three minutes into the second half.
Baptist Bible took its first lead of the game at the 72:54 mark as Emily Hedges scored off a Bulldog defensive miscue, but Emmons tied the game just five minutes later off an assist from freshman Kate Fisher (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy) to force overtime and the eventual tie.
Sophomore Kelly Hinkle (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) made seven saves for the Bulldogs. BBC out-shot DSU, 15-11, and held a 5-2 advantage on corner kicks.
DeSales returns to action on Monday as they travel to Alvernia College for a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
