Edwardsville, PA, (September 24, 2004) – The DeSales University women’s tennis team improved to 6-1overall and 3-1 in the Freedom Conference as they topped Wilkes University, 5-4, in Freedom Conference action on Friday afternoon.
Junior Laura LeVan (Orefield, PA/Parkland) and freshman Liz Guidon (Northampton, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) were double winners as they each won their singles matches and combined to win at No. 1 doubles, 8-1. LeVan defeated Kelly Leach, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Guidon defeated Sara Ryder, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
Also earning points for the Bulldogs was sophomore Colleen Solomon (Catasauqua, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 7-5 and freshman Courtney McClurkin (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford) at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0, as she improved to 6-0 this season in singles competition.
DeSales returns to action on Sunday, September 26th as they travel to King’s College for another Freedom Conference match beginning at 1:00 pm.
