DSU Loses First Home Match, 5-4 to King’s College

Freshman Courtney McClurkin improved to 7-0 with a win today vs. King's College.
 
Center Valley, PA, (September 26, 2004) – The DeSales University women’s tennis team lost its first home match of the season on Sunday afternoon as visiting King’s College defeated the Bulldogs, 5-4, in Freedom Conference action.
 
        The freshman duo of Courtney McClurkin (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford) and Mary Kate McElvaney (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert) were each double winners as they teamed to win 8-5 at No. 2 doubles and also won in singles play.  McClurkin improved to 7-0 on the season with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles and McElvaney improved to 6-0 on the season as she won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
 
        Also earning a point for DeSales was freshman Liz Guidon (Northampton, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) who won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.
 
        DeSales returns to action on Tuesday as they travel to The University of Scranton for a very important Freedom Conference match beginning at 3:30 pm.
