Moore’s Marker Lifts DeSales Past Cabrini, 2-1

Center Valley, PA, (September 4, 2004) – Senior Kevin Moore (Hockessin, DE/Salesianum) took advantage of a Cavalier misplay and scored the game-winning goal to lead the DeSales University men’s soccer team past Cabrini College, 2-1, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Moore was in position when senior John Rennie (Cape May Court House, NJ/Middle Township) served a high pass into the center of the field around the 18-yard line.  The Cavalier (0-2 overall) goalkeeper came out to play the ball but overran the play and the ball bounced over his head and Moore was there to head the stray ball into the wide open net for the game-winning goal at the 76:47 mark.  The marker was Moore’s fourth of the season.

Cabrini had tied the game in the 58th minute when Brent Benner scored after Joe Rotan had his shot knocked away by freshman Tigh Savercool (Millerstown, PA/Greenwood).  The rebound caromed directly to Benner who knocked it past a diving Savercool.  Rennie had given DSU the 1-0 lead at the 21:02 mark when he drew a penalty in the box and scored on a penalty kick.

Savercool made four saves for DeSales as the Bulldogs out shot Cabrini, 19-12.

DeSales returns to action on Friday, September 10th as they travel to the Richard Stockton Tournament.
