Center Valley, PA, (September 4, 2004) – The DeSales University women’s tennis team won its second straight match on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Lycoming College, 7-2, in Freedom Conference action.
The Bulldogs won two of three doubles matches and five singles matches to record their first win of the season. Junior Laura LeVan (Orefield, PA/Parkland) was among the double winners as she posted a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles and teamed with freshman Liz Guidon (Northampton, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Guidon was also victorious at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
Freshman Courtney McClurkin (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford) won at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-0 and fellow freshman Mary Kate McElvaney (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert) won at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-3. The two also teamed at No. 2 doubles to win, 8-3.
Rounding out the day’s winners was sophomore Colleen Solomon (Catasauqua, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-3.
DeSales returns to action Tuesday, September 7th as they host Widener University in a non-conference match beginning at 4:00 pm.
