Second-Half Run Leads DeSales Women Past Richard Stockton, 73-58

Center Valley, PA, (January 17, 2005) – Senior Alyssa Antolick (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) scored a game-high 19 points and fellow senior Holly Liebl (Kutztown, PA/Kutztown) recorded her sixth double-double of the season leading the DeSales University women’s basketball team past Richard Stockton College, 73-58, in non-conference action on Monday evening.
 
        The win improves the Bulldogs to 11-3 overall, while the loss drops the Ospreys to 10-6 overall.  DSU improved to 10-0 when they out-rebound its opponent as they held a 45-37 advantage on the boards in the game.  DeSales also shot 42.9 percent in the second-half and forced 17 Osprey turnovers in the game.
 
        DSU used a decisive 25-7 second-half run to put the game away after leading by just two points, 32-30, at the start of the second half.  Antolick led the charge with 11 points including a three-pointer that concluded the run and freshman Krista Gerlach (Oak Ridge, NJ/West Milford Township) provided a spark with all eight of her points during the 18-point spurt.
 
        The first half was a back and forth affair that saw five ties and six lead change before DeSales used a 9-4 run to end the half giving the Bulldogs a six-point halftime cushion.  Liebl had a team-high nine points at the break.
 
        Liebl finished the game with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while senior Jen Netwall (Allentown, PA/William Allen) totaled nine points and moved into a tie for the all-time lead in career three-pointers made with 143.  She needs just one more trey to break Kate Corcoran’s record.  Freshman Amanda Kuperavage (Port Carbon, PA/Nativity BVM) played well for the second straight game as she totaled six points and a season-high nine rebounds.
 
        Stockton saw two players reach double digits including Alicia Morris and Aimee Rendine with 11 points a piece.

        DeSales returns to action on Wednesday as they host Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference game beginning at 6:00 pm.
